WARRANTY POLICY

1. Warranty Overview

Kinship Customs provides a limited warranty on all products we manufacture and supply, including custom joinery, furniture, and metal spinning products such as unlacquered brass and copper shower roses and taps. This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

2. Natural Materials Disclaimer

Kinship Customs works extensively with natural materials, including solid timber, veneers, brass, and copper. By purchasing from us, you acknowledge that natural materials will change over time due to environmental conditions, use, and ageing.

Solid timber and timber veneers are living materials and may naturally:

- Expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity

- Move, cup, bow, or develop fine surface checking

- Vary in grain, colour, and figure between pieces

These characteristics are inherent to timber and are not considered defects.

3. Sunlight & Colour Variation

Timber is sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light. Prolonged exposure to direct or indirect sunlight may cause timber to lighten, darken, or change tone over time.

Where objects such as books, lamps, décor, or other items are placed on timber surfaces for extended periods, uneven colour change may occur. When these items are moved, colour variation may become visible. This is a natural process and is not covered under warranty.

4. Warranty Period

All Kinship Customs products are covered by a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated in writing. The warranty applies to workmanship and manufacturing defects only.

5. What Is Covered

This warranty covers manufacturing defects and workmanship issues that result in the product not functioning as intended under normal use and correct installation.

6. What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover:

- Natural movement, expansion, contraction, cupping, or bowing of timber- Colour variation, ageing, patina, or UV-related discolouration of timber

- Natural patina, oxidation, tarnishing, or colour change in brass or copper

- Surface marks, wear, or ageing consistent with normal use

- Water spotting, mineral deposits, or staining

- Damage caused by incorrect installation or non-compliant plumbing

- Damage caused by harsh, abrasive, acidic, or chemical cleaners

- Alterations, repairs, or modifications carried out by third parties

- Normal wear and tear or misuse

7. Installation Requirements

All products must be installed by a licensed and qualified tradesperson in accordance with local regulations and best practice. Failure to comply with installation requirements will void this warranty.

8. Warranty Claims

To make a warranty claim, customers must submit the following in writing:

- Proof of purchase

- Clear photographs and/or videos showing the issue

- A brief description of the fault and installation details

Claims must be made within the applicable warranty period.

9. Remedy

If a claim is approved, Kinship Customs will, at its discretion:

- Repair the product, or

- Replace the product with the same or equivalent item

Removal, reinstallation, and associated labour costs are not covered unless required under Australian Consumer Law.

10. Care & Maintenance

Customers must follow the Care & Maintenance Guide provided by Kinship Customs. Failure to follow recommended care instructions may void warranty claims.

11. Exclusions & Limitations

To the extent permitted by law, Kinship Customs is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from the use or installation of our products. Liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the product supplied.

12. Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

13. Updates to This Policy

Kinship Customs reserves the right to update this Warranty Policy at any time. The version in effect at the time of purchase will apply.
